The key difference between silk and satin is that silk is a fiber and satin is a type of weave.

Taking silk fibers and weaving them together using a satin method would result in the creation of a silk satin textile. Satin could also be used together with polyester, wool, cotton, spandex, and other fibers, both natural as well as synthetic.
