Silk is a natural fiber produced by silkworms during a process called sericulture. During sericulture silkworms eat mounds of leaves until they are fully grown and able to produce a cocoon. Once the cocoon is finished it is then gently boiled in hot water until it unravels, so that it can be dyed, spun, and weaved into a useful silk textile
